ENERGY CRISIS

Since UCSD has already built a workable energy producing system capable of suppling enough energy to accomodate several thousand homes, the City should be working with UCSD to enlarge the system making it capabale of providing enough energy to care for all of San Diego City and County.

MAJOR ISSUE- THE PADRE BALL PARK.

This is a project that should have never been entered into by the City. The present stadium was renovated just a few years ago to the tune of a few million dollars and is completely adequate to accomodate all the games to be held by both the Chargers and the Padres within their seasons. If the Padres move into a Ball Park - the present stadium will be left vacant for several months during Chargers off season, and the same would apply to the new Ball Park during the Padre Off season. When Mayor Golding was in office, she committed the City to pick up the tab when the Chargers attendance was low giving the Chargers a NO LOSE CONTRACT. WHAT A DEAL. We can not, and Must not continue covering the losses of these major franchised teams. The City is now, and will be for many years, in debt to the Chargers. The present agreement on the ball park with the Padres should be re-negotiated making it more favorable to the City - not the ball clubs. If it involves a complete hault to this project - then lets stop and and start to talk.

MISSION BAY.

Much talk is going on about Mission Bay and the polution problems. The cause, as reported, are from sewer spills flowing into the bay. The city should be concentrating its efforts on repairing the broken sewer lines and directing the sewer to the treatment plants.

For the past several years the City has tried to recover the property in the center of Mission Bay, that was Leased over 99 years ago and made into a Mobile Home Park. If the City has plans to negotiate a deal with the Hotel Industry to build more hotels on this Prime Piece of Land in return for the Tax revenue, I would definately oppose this transaction. We do not need any more High Rise hotels obstructing the view of our beautiful bay. I would however, recommend converting the mobile home park into an RV park whereby all the current installed utilities can still be utilized, and the City would be able to collect revenue while still promoting tourisim. This would also eliminate some of the heavy RV traffic currently utilizing the parking spaces on the Bay side close to Highway 5.

LIBRARIES

The city is in the process of building a New Library in the down town area. This is a big waste of money when the neighborhood libraries are in desperate need of modern eqwuipment and improvements. The number of visitors to the Neighborhood libraries, far exceed the numbr that would visit the downtown library. The cost of parking in any downtown area is far beyond what any person wants to pay.

NEIGHBORHOOD SAFETY

Over the past few years the number of accidents at major intersections has increased causing many deaths and major injuries. The City must reduce the possibilities of allowing these accidents to happen by installing STOP signs and Traffic Signals. No life is worth the cost of a Traffic Signal. Its time to concentrate on the health and safety of our Tax Paying Citizens.
