Working Towards a Responsive City Goverment

By Jill Barad

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Los Angeles; District 5

This information is provided by the candidate
Running for office is new to me, but getting involved in our neighborhoods is not. I've lived and worked in the Valley for nearly 30 years. And, I know our neighborhoods do not receive their fair share of city services. It's time for a change. I will be a strong, effective advocate for you and your neighbors.
I will make it a priority to fully integrate the new Neighborhood Councils into the decision-making process in the City. I will be responsive to the concerns and issues of my constituents. I will ensure that the residents of LA get the quality of services they desire and that their tax monies are used efficiently to provide those services.

What people want most are quality services delivered in a timely manner-- Street repair, parking enforcement, potholes fixed, trees trimmed. I will personally make sure that these issues are taken care of and monitored. And if you call my office and we don't know the answer, we'll get back to you within 24 hours.

I firmly believe that if we make Los Angeles more business-friendly we can attract and retain business, create decent-paying jobs, and have the additional resources needed to meet the demands of the next few years.

Most of all I want to use my lifetime of accomplishments and civic leadership to tackle the pressing problems facing Los Angeles today: traffic and transportation, inadequate infrastructure planning for expected population growth, building the LAPD back to full strength, providing fire and emergency medical services when needed, and just meeting the day-to-day concerns of the residents of Los Angeles.
