Sylvia Muņoz-Schnopp Director of National Multi-Cultural Initiatives, Corporate Communications, AT&T Wireless Services Biography Sylvia Muņoz-Schnopp, Director of National Multi-Cultural Initiatives, Corporate Communications, has been with AT&T Wireless for more than 7 years. She is responsible for the company's national multi-cultural strategies based on marketing public relations in the forms of marketing, media relations, community involvement and public policy. She also continues to spearhead local AT&T presence and community outreach in the Ventura and Santa Barbara County areas. Prior to the national appointment, Sylvia was responsible for public relations, outreach and media relations in the state of Nevada. Her career with AT&T also includes a successful term as Marketing Operations and External Affairs Manager for the South Coast Market. She originally joined McCaw Cellular Communications, Inc. in 1993 and has been recognized nationally and regionally for extensive local public affairs, diversity involvement and outreach programs. She has developed programs on behalf of AT&T that have included partnerships with law enforcement agencies, school districts, nonprofit organizations and service organizations in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. Prior to AT&T, Sylvia spent 9 years with United Way of Ventura County, including 7 years as Director of Marketing and Communications. At United Way, she created and organized the nationally acclaimed program called "Day of Caring", launching a legacy of volunteerism in the county. "Day of Caring" is a program that provides volunteers in the community an opportunity to contribute a day's work of "sweat equity" to a nonprofit organization; this program is utilized by many United Way's across the country. She received an MBA in Finance from California Lutheran University, holds a B.S. Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from California State University, Northridge and an Associate of Arts Degree from Ventura College. Sylvia is a member of the Puente Mentor Council for Oxnard College, which is designed to mentor and provide leadership to young minority students, enabling and encouraging them to complete their community college work and transfer to a 4 year university to receive their baccalaureate degree. She is the past two-term Chairwoman and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of City Impact, a nonprofit organization offering mentorship and counseling for youth and their families throughout Ventura County. She is a member of the executive committee of the Board of Directors for the Ventura County Economic Development Association (VCEDA), the largest regional business and industry advocacy group in the County. Sylvia volunteers her time for Interface: Children, Family Services serving two terms as the chairperson of the annual LPGA Women's Teaching Clinic fundraiser. She was also the women's ministry leader at South Coast Fellowship in Ventura. She served as a Board Member for the Lied Discovery Children's Museum of Las Vegas, Nevada. Born and raised in Oxnard, CA, Sylvia resides in Port Hueneme, CA with her two sons. |
