Political Philosophy for Jim Monahan
Candidate for |
My philosophy has always been to represent the people and give the people a voice in their government. I don't represent the bureaucrats or special interest groups. I have held true to this for 23 years a a member of the City Council. I have always been elected to the Ventura City Council as a grassroots candidate and will continue to seek support from the entire community. I have always kept an eye on the budget in order to spend the people's money wisely. I was the leader in opposing an ill-conceived baseball stadium on farmland behind the auto center. This successfully saved the City $18,000,000. I have fought to provide paramedics services by our cities' fire departments to improve response time and reduce costs. I always have supported the protection of the greenbelt areas in Ventura County. I have worked to establish new greenbelts and stop urban sprawl. I have been the leader on the City Council in making our Police Department is adequately funded to have the personnel and equipment to do their job effectively and improve traffic patrol. |
