An Introduction.... At a young age, I was taught by Troop 28 Boy Scout Leader T.L. Mullins that a Scout's responsibility is to "leave the forest better than he found it!" That seemed at the time to be a rule that could apply to the world at large, for life. Wherever we find ourselves, we should make improvements, or we are succumbing to entropy. If we are not part of the solution, as the saying goes, we are part of the problem. I have talked to four presidents of the United States, walked the streets of Soweto and the dusty roads of Kwazulu. I have prayed in the Garden of Gethseme, stood on Golgotha and beside the manger in Bethlehem, shivered in a foxhole on the DMZ in Korea, and talked to Chinese leaders in Tienamen Square. For more than thirty years I have worked full time on issues that affect our daily lives. In my adult life, I have embraced the fact that my job is to help others, and I have spent my life doing that, to the best of my ability. I thank you for visiting these pages to see what my beliefs are, my past is, and what positive things I can accomplish for San Diego in the future. Sincerely, Larry Stirling |
