Greg Rolen possesses a keen understanding of the law and our community, both assets for a district representative to the Assembly.

Professional Background

Greg served as a deputy district attorney for Contra Costa County and deputy attorney general in the State Attorney General's Office. His conviction record was outstanding, and Greg gained a reputation as a skilled and ethical advocate.

In 1998, Greg joined Miller Brown & Dannis, known as the top full-service education law firm in California. Greg now specializes in education law, representing schools and school districts.

Education

With a degree in political science and history, graduating cum laude from the University of San Diego, Greg has long blended his interests in politics and the law. After receiving a four-year Christian Leadership Scholarship for his undergraduate years, and the Schaber Memorial Scholarship during law school, Greg worked as a legal intern in Sacramento in the Office of the United States Attorney.

Community Involvement

Since returning to the Bay Area in 1989 to take up his law practice, Greg has committed substantial time to volunteer activities in the community. He was an instructor for D.A.R.E., teaching teens about the hazards of drinking and driving. He served as Public Policy Chair for the Contra Costa Substance Abuse Advisory Board. And he worked as the Policy Director for the Williams for Congress campaign.

Family

Greg and his wife Diane live in Walnut Creek. They have one son, Carter, and are expecting their second child in July 2000. When Carter was born, Greg took two months' family leave to care for him. Diane recently left her law practice to be at home with Carter full time. A Bay Area native, Greg was raised in San Bruno. His father is a retired probation officer, his mother a retired medical librarian.
