California is enjoying a new prosperity that is not shared by the Central Valley. Too many families live in poverty. Their children see little hope for their future. Using my experience as a parent, a community volunteer, a journalist and now as an attorney, I want to represent the 29th Assembly District in the Legislature and help to bring prosperity to the Central Valley.

My goals . . .

  • Education for our children's future

  • Economic prosperity and jobs for the Central Valley

  • Access to health care for all

  • Air we can breathe . . . Water we can drink

  • Wise use of natural resources

My plan . . .

Neighboring Democratic Assembly members have been quick to respond to the needs of the Central Valley dealing with such challenges as last winter's freeze, unsafe farm worker vans and the inhumane treatment of people who were endangered by a recent pesticide accident.

I will join them in their efforts to make sure that we in the Central Valley obtain our fair share of state resources to invigorate the economy, put people to work and maintain water supplies needed for local agriculture.

I want more money spent on education to provide the best teachers and schools in which children can learn and succeed. We should spend our money on schools to give our children hope for their future . . . not on prisons to house them when there is no hope.

While Governor Davis has led the way to providing health insurance for thousands of children who live in poverty, thousands more adults as well as children still lack access to health care. It's time to make health care the right of all, not the privilege of some.
