I want to maintain and improve California's transportation infrastructure to reduce traffic gridlock and improve quality of life.Transportation - California's highway infrastructure has not kept pace with suburban sprawl, population growth, and vehicle miles traveled. Therefore, to maintain and improve transportation infrastructure, I would sponsor or support programs that would: · Fast-track completion of SR 56 and SR 125 to Poway, thus reducing traffic on I-5 and I-15. · Open up HOV lanes on I-15. · Double track the Coaster from Oceanside to San Diego. · Ensure that all gasoline taxes, including sales taxes on gasoline, are devoted to funding highway construction and maintenance. · Provide tax incentives to companies to encourage telecommuting and flexible work schedules. · Support the Assembly Republicans' "2020 Vision for Roads," which would commit $125 billion over 20 years to adequately fund and maintain roads, highways, and mass transit in order to alleviate regional traffic gridlock. |
