Political Philosophy for Gail Katherine Lightfoot

|
I believe in the following defination of government: (taken from the American Declaration of Independence, 1776) WE [The author, the signers, You and I]HOLD [Keep in our minds, believe]THESE [Listed here]TRUTHS [Facts]TO BE SELF-EVIDENT, [Obvious, clear, known to all]that ALL [Each living man, woman and child]ARE CREATED EQUAL [Each person is as good as only other person]the THEY [Each person]are ENDOWED [Given -- without asking]by their CREATOR [Maker, nature or god]with CERTAIN [Some]UNALIENABLE [Cannot be given away or shared]RIGHTS, [Something given you that you cannot give away]that among these are LIFE [Your own life is yours to live or take]LIBERTY [You are free to make your way in life]PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS [You may live your life in freedom seeking whatever it is that gives you satisfaction and comfort]-- that to SECURE [Keep safe]these RIGHTS, [Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness]GOVERNMENTS [Ruling body to set up the law]are INSTITUTED [Created, made, designed, set up]among MEN [The word men here is used to say "man as a human" and includes men, women and children, all sexes, all races, all ages, all beliefs]DERIVING [Given]their JUST [Fair and necessary only]POWERS [Authority, ability to enforce]from the CONSENT [Permission]of the GOVERNED [The people who agree to follow the rules]
I, Gail Lightfoot, believe with all my heart in this as the only basis for a fair and limited government.
This is the foundation for the U.S. Constitution.
This is morally correct.
The federal government is way, way beyond these simple truths today.
It is time for the people to take back their government.
It is time to set things' right by repealing laws that do not serve to protect the Rights of the Individual.
It is time to set us free to seek happiness according to our abilities.
I pledge myself to work to that end. Gail Lightfoot California Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate, 2000 |
