Candidate for
State Senator; District 3

This information is provided by the candidate

We need to return to the basic founding ideas of our nation. Serving the nation (from a local, state or federal level) as an enlightened citizen participating in governmental duties should be the norm, not politicians serving special interests. We need an engaging vision of what is possible, what works, what we can become. Our communities are divided by ignorance and apathy. It is time for the awareness that there are researched solutions - effective programs - to reduce crime, revamp education, support sustainable agriculture, reduce taxes, transform our energy use with alternative fuels that can be promulgated to reduce ineffective governmental programs and and create a healthy, coherent community. Satisfaction, happiness and morality cannot be legislated. The ability to use our full potential cannot be legislated. High standards unsupported by an increase in higher ability to reason and integrate knowledge do not automatically result in higher performing individuals. People do not all fit in the same molds. Diversity should be accounted for, accomodated and supported while allowing greater freedom of personal development.

So many of the problems facing society today are the result of, unhealthy, unfulfilled citizens. Our most precious natural resource is our human resource. As we move further into the information age, we need to care for our citizens as well as our environment. We need programs that develop the abilities of our citizens to increase intelligence, creativity, as well as moral reasoning, self-reliance and mental and physical health and well-being. America's problems are human problems - crime, domestic violence, drug dependency, declining health from an epidemic of unhealthy habits.
