Difficult issues facing the 32nd Assembly District.

By Virginia R. (Rivera) Gurrola

Unemployment and Economic Development
The double digit unemployment rate is the most critical issue facing our district. The lack of jobs effects our families, the educational system, and our communities. It results in lack of revenues to our cities, and repels economic growth. The reduction of unemployment will improve the quality of life. It will further provide positive effects on other district issues important to me such as, better education, vocational job training, good air/water quality, better health/child care, and affordable housing.

Being the world's agricultural area, I want to help that industry flourish even more. I would provide inducements for economic development to increase good paying jobs. High Tech and other job training should be made available to attract high tech companies to the valley. The improvements of our roads and highways would attract industry. Finally, high unemployment cannot be addressed without providing adequate child care.
