Proposition 13 Reform

By Anselmo A. Chavez

Candidate for State Senator; District 15

Commercial and Industrial Property Reassessment
Commercial and industrial property assessment is the most gaping hole in the state tax system.

I propose that commercial and industrial property be periodically reassessed to market value.

If commercial and industrial property were to be assessed to market value - lack of source revenue for schools, cities and counties would be solved.

Taxes collected in the first year would be approximately 7-10 billion dollars, and growing over time with the economy.

Homeowners would not be affected by this reform.

I'm of the opinion that, if Proposition 13 is reformed, that money would be available to propose special treatment to include; homeowners, renters, senior citizens, disabled persons, the poor, first time home buyers, and small business owners.
