Most pressinbg challenges facing the Cloverdale School District

By Dick W. Johnson

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Cloverdale Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
1. Spending more money than is collected through taxes and state apportionment. 2.Test scores and development of exit criteria
I feel the district must have a qualified budget officer that is familiar with school financing. Through this person other sources of funds can be explored and obtained. The Superintendent does not have the time to look for funds due to his many other responsibilities. The second area of concern is the continual raising of test scores in all grades. The test scores have increased by a very creative staff of teachers and administrators. In order for this to continue and even more progress to be made it will entail more after school programs, tutoring, volunteers and inservice programs that enhance the curriculum. I will give my time to find grants and encourage volunteers to assist the teachers in the classrooms. Exit exams must be explored in the near future. I will make this a priority in the 2000 # 2000l school year to establish a committee to examine the needs and the outcomes so that CUSD will have these exams in place when needed.
