Traffic We've got to improve flow through Menlo Park without attracting new traffic;encourage transit improvements to Caltrain and Dumbarton Rail, and discourage traffic-intense development that hurts Menlo Park. Housing I will work to raise more than $8M new money to build more affordable units for teachers, police, firefighters and other critical public service workers, and support policies that allow long-time residents to remain in Menlo Park. Recreation, Parks & Child Care Facilities I will continue to push for tighter fiscal policies to free up funds for new playing fields, new child care facilities, a new gym and a swimming pool for our families and their children. Protecting Neighborhoods & Preserving Community Character To maintain the small-town charm and character of Menlo Park, I will promote more local-serving projects such as the Boys & Girls Club, Mid-Peninsula High School, Rosener House and Menlo Square. I will continue to protect our neighborhoods from large commercial projects underway for Stanford, SRI,University Circle, Safeway and Beltramos. Citizen Participation I propose updating our General Plan with a vision of Menlo Park designed by our residents; I will continue to empower our citizen commissions to participate more substantively than ever before. Regional Cooperation I will continue serving on regional boards; work to integrate Menlo Park's shuttle into the multi-nodal station designed for downtown Palo Alto; work with Palo Alto and Redwood City to coordinate land-use decisions; support Dumbarton Rail and other cross-bay transit solutions. |
