Most everyone seems to feel that campaign finance reform is important, and that they are tired of the same old electioneering. If you feel that way too, read on...

  • I am not a politician. I have never run for political office. I am dedicated to emphasizing that my number one priority as a member of the City Council is to serve the Citizens of San Luis Obispo above all other entities, forces or organizations.

  • It is time to put a highly-talented, experienced CREATIVE person on the City Council.

  • I pledge to run a different kind of campaign. As Monty Python would say: "Now for something completely different!"

  • I will accept no financing from anyone. I have no campaign committee. Therefore, I am beholding to no one. No special interests. No bribes. No "one hand washes the other" scenarios.

  • I have no campaign manager. Therefore, no "spin doctors" to weave something out of nothing.

  • Unlike all the others, I am my own person.

  • When it comes to my positions, I will always tell the truth.

  • I will keep an open mind. I will listen to all sides. I am not afraid to change my mind.

  • I will not print expensive brochures. They all say the same old thing anyway.

  • I will not clutter your mail box with mailings that no one reads and which waste money and paper and are usually filled with the same old stuff.

  • I will not print yard signs or posters. If someone wants to make one and place it in their yard or window, that's fine with me. Let me know where it is in San Luis Obispo and I will photograph it, put it on my web site and enter it into my "Make Me A Sign" contest. Judging will be by a renowned local graphic designer. Grand prize? Dinner for two at Big Sky as my guest.

  • I will use my creativity, energy, maturity, experience, wisdom and concern for the rights of every Citizen to promote the preservation of the magic that is San Luis Obispo. Some of what I will champion are:

  • I expect to ensure the City's future water supply without resorting to the State Water Project, which the good citizens of SLO voted to defeat twice during the worst part of the local drought in the early 1990s.

  • I support the annexation of the airport area to, among other things, ensure control over noise pollution that may occur from existing noisy aircraft (many private jets) and the advent of the newer jet airliners.

  • I support our police and fire fighters in their efforts to achieve binding arbitration. Citizens will demonstrate their support for our city's Police Officers' Association and the Firefighters' Union by voting YES on City of San Luis Obispo Measure S-2000 and NO on City of San Luis Obispo Measure T-2000.

  • I endorse SOAR (Save Open space and Agricultural Resources), San Luis Obispo County Measure M-2000.

  • I will work towards a solution for the Dalidio property that does not destroy this beautiful asset.

  • I propose that the City ensure that every Citizen has Internet access, with the equipment and the knowledge to utilize the Internet to enhance their lives and livelihoods.

  • I want to encourage a mandate specifying that all City elected officials and City staff attend seminars designed to familiarize each of them with the United States Constitution. Such knowledge is needed to avert intentional or unintentional violations of each official's oath of office.

  • I will promote an era of "No Tolerance For Intolerance" to combat the hate and violence festering within some segments of our community, and attack hate and violence at their source: the home, the school, the church. Diversity is the key to survival.

  • I will work with every organization dedicated to providing affordable housing in our community. Innovative solutions, such as mixed residential/business facilities, must be explored. Zoning changes to promote additional mobile home parks and manufactured housing communities must be explored.

  • I will continue to support and expand the outstanding facilities provided by the City to shelter our homeless population, which consists of a high percentage of children, and to assist those without homes to find permanent residences and jobs within the community..

  • I want to stop urban sprawl: the creeping, insidious infestation that menaces our treasured way of life.

  • I will work to promote a healthy environment free from pollution of our land, air and water.

  • To prevent anyone from being left behind, I will work towards accomplishing Internet access for every Citizen of San Luis Obispo, including all of our senior citizens, low income residents, the disadvantaged and those at risk.

  • I want to promote volunteerism, with a goal to enlist every SLO Citizen into volunteering to work for at least one community or non-profit organization.

  • I want to ensure that our Senior Community is provided with the facilities and opportunities to enhance their lives.

  • I will work towards invigorating and developing youth organizations, and create a blue ribbon "Commission On Youth," comprised of concerned, interested, motivated young residents of SLO to plan programs, encourage diversity and provide the energy to excel.

  • I want to ensure that our youth have exceptional sports venues.

  • I will endorse all efforts to provide access to the creative arts by all of our Citizens, and to encourage everyone to become involved in creating art, music, dance and theater to enhance their own lives and bring joy to the entire community.

  • I will work to energize neighborhoods to create neighborhood groups throughout the City which are imbued with esprit de corps in order to promote Block Parties, City Hall Neighborhood days, etc. The Human Relations Commission attempted to plan and endorse Block Parties in neighborhoods throughout the city, events that have proven highly popular and successful in cities all across America. The City has failed to support these efforts.

  • I want to stop the bullying practices supported by the City when our Citizens are in a dispute with the City, particularly over insurance claims when the City is at fault. It's not easy fighting "city hall," but our Citizens should never be subjected to such rude treatment. The City must start treating each Citizen with honor and respect rather than as an adversary.

  • I will promote on-going efforts to create access for disabled persons to all City, public and business venues, to combat illegal use of disabled person's placards and license plates, to stop illegal parking in designated disabled person's parking spaces.

  • I will encourage the promotion and creation of locally owned businesses rather than monster chain stores that take their profits out of the community.

  • I will create a "Citizens of SLO Consortium" to hear citizen's suggestions and concerns on a regular basis and to report findings to the City Council.

  • I will charge the SLO City Council with the responsibility of running the city.

  • I will promote "Traditional San Luis Obispo Values" by preserving our cherished small town ambiance; it's beauty, tranquillity, friendliness and community spirit.

  • I want to promote bicycle safety by insisting that all riders who have never had reason to study the DMV's Driver's Handbook, particularly children, to do so and learn the rules of the road and abide by them.

  • I will strive to always keep our Citizen's First! The City is for the people. Not special interests.
