The Issue of "Trust".

By Phillip R. "Phil" Taves

Candidate for Director; Cambria Community Services District

This information is provided by the candidate
Is it possible that we (voters in Cambria) sometimes listen to those that play on our fears of losing what we have here in Cambria. They suggest, that if only we did not develop needed resources we would not have a growth problem.
I believe we need people in office who enter that position with a clear understanding of their responsibilities. They are there to provide services to the people of Cambria. If as we have seen in the last 10yrs or so people elected to office who see their role as resisting the development of resources (water)because of course that equals growth, then we will never achieve solutions to our resource problems. This means that we must all take a step beyond thinking of every solution as a threat to our town. Water solutions do not equal growth.

An additional problem with such a tactic is the cost. How long can we afford to pay six million dollars (money all ready spent) for studies to tell us what we all ready know? Have we lost faith in our growth ordinance? What about those who represent us? Will they suddenly do away with the ordinance and build homes and taco bells all over the place? Please don't believe for a second that I am making light of the problems Cambria faces. We must be vigilant if we are to protect the character and uniqueness of this community. We do have problems but if we continue to equate the development of resources such as water with growth we will never reach the goal of providing Cambria with the dependable resources she deserves.
