DowntownBy William "Bill" RabenaldtCandidate for Councilmember; City of Pismo Beach | |

Severe parking shortages and congested traffic make it difficult for us to enjoy our own beach.Downtown should be inviting to our residents and it is not! A downtown plan must be implemented to rid ourselves of unwanted elements, traffic congestion and the lack of parking. I will work hard to redirect the downtown parking and move it to a nearby location. We will then create a walking plaza and park area for our families to enjoy with outside dining and a festive atmosphere. Memorial benches, trees and walkways will provide an atmosphere of continuity and sheer pleasure. Imagine clowns making balloons, face painters for the children and a stroll to the beach worth remembering. So much could be done with an area currently taken up by cars with smelly exhaust systems and traffic congestion so heavy at times I wonder why anyone would come downtown, resident or visitor. The project will take several years to accomplish but if we don't start, it can never be finished. If you want our pier and beach brought back to the residents, I would appreciate your support on November 7th. |
