The airport area expansion needs to be under city control to ensure adequate planning consistent with SLO quality of life and General Plan goals.
It is essential to bring the airport area under city control, for careful long term planning. We have attempted piecemeal annexation, which does not lend itself to good planning.

A business park in this area will allow us to attract high tech, environmentally friendly business with good base level salary employment opportunites. We typically invest 4-6 years in Cal Poly graduates. This will allow us to reap the reward of that investment by offering good jobs with competitive salaries and benefits. Through city control we can ensure open space preservation, protection of wildlife habitat, and architectural compatibility and sensitivity to SLO design standards.
