I will protect Prop. 13 & rent control to make living in District 7 affordable for old & new residents.RENNIE O'BRIEN Fellow Residents of District 7,
As a 4th generation native son, born and raised in the inner Sunset, I'm working hard, running a grass-roots campaign to represent you on the Board of Supervisors.
My great-grandfather was a construction worker. My grandfather was a garbage man. My father was a San Francisco police captain. I went to city schools and have had a chiropractic practice here for over 15 years.
My campaign is financed by voters because you want a truly independent candidate who will advocate our District concerns. I accept the voluntary $75,000 spending cap, and I won't take money from special interest groups because I believe our great city is not for sale.
Other candidates may be obligated to special interests that finance their campaigns. I will be accountable to you my Diostrict 7 neighbors.
I have been walking your neighborhoods, small businesses and markets, knocking on 17,000 doors since December, wearing out three pairs of shoes to meet you personally and listen to your concerns.
District 7 pays a high percentage of City taxes, but city services are inadequate for our needs! As Supervisor, I will fight to open and expand city services, especially for the large number of extended families, seniors and youth in District 7.
I will advocate community priorities so the city budget addresses your needs and city departments provide needed services in a timely manner.
I will form coalitions with other District supervisors with similar needs to make City Hall listen and act. I will hold a monthly town hall meeting in the District for your input and support.
Taxpayers who live and work in this city should have access to affordable housing, rents, and mortgages. We are against gentrification, and illegal evictions, especially of senior citizens.
I support small businesses against big business corporate chains.
I Support a Living Wage - Full-time city workers should be able to live in the city on what they earn without public assistance.
I support full Health Services - I am concerned that so many San Franciscans, especially families with children, do not have health insurance.
I support FAIR rent control for renters, and FAIR rental income for owners - owners and renters should work together for fairness, and not let big corporation owners continually push for laws that take fairness out of the picture.
I support Transportation Improvements - Improve MUNI on time performance, especially on lines #28 and #71. Improve consistancy of taxi service and disability van service. Mark bike lanes on safe streets.
I support city Propositions: YES on Prop.E - Retiree Health Benefits.
I've stood with the golfers and worked to stop the privatization of Fleming Golf Course by collecting signatures and organizing rallies. I got TV cameras to get City Hall to listen. I've painted, cleaned and planted trees to beautify Ocean Avenue. I've provided hands-on support as a volunteer at the Sunset District Food Pantry and Laguna Honda hospital.
I am committed to insure a positive future for all San Franciscans by energetically helping us work together. Check out my website at http://www.rennieobrien.com and post your ideas. |
