MAKING SURE DISTRICT GETS FAIR SHARE OF CITY RESOURCES:

Everyday insufficient parking, inadequate mass transit, lack of affordable housing, and deteriorating schools threaten the family friendly quality of life in the Sunset. Creating solutions to those threats demands effective advocacy for District 4.

These critical issues demand citywide solutions. City revenues should fund off-street parking development, city policies will steer the creation of long-term housing solutions, and city planning will expand the mass transit west of Twin Peaks. I am committed to building the coalitions necessary to win these improvements for the Sunset.

DEVELOPING NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS:

We can return power to the Sunset if we draw on the ideas and energy of all our residents. Each of the diverse neighborhoods within our district has its own identity, distinct traditions, and unique needs. I will work with the residents in each neighborhood to develop a program that meets the needs of their community.

We will work to make our parks and playgrounds safe. We will fight to enhance services to children and seniors. We will enhance the Taraval, Irving, and Noriega merchant districts. We will work to increase traffic safety. We will fight to protect the beauty of ocean beach and the Golden Gate Park, Stern Grove and Lake Merced.

Together we will make sure that city government hears our concerns and acts on our issues. We will work in neighborhood forums to make sure that the job gets done.

RESTORING HONEST LEADERSHIP:

The Sunset deserves the best leadership, someone who can help build strong citywide coalitions to address our problems with fiscally responsible solutions. We need to re-establish a fair tax base that pays the cost of running our city. And we need effective oversight.

We cannot afford to have representatives who will not confront the tough financial decisions. We need honest leadership that will confront difficult issues, not sit by while community spending decreases and the quality of services decline. We need to act now to expand opportunities for all of the residents of our city.

The current Board of Supervisors has created the problems in our community by delivering for every special interest in the city except for our neighborhoods. A vote for Tom Hsieh will restore honest leadership to San Francisco and to the Sunset.
