As President of the Olivenhain Municipal Water District for the last 8 years I have learned that effective water management must anticipate future needs and worse-case scenarios.

Water is a complex issue when you have no natural source and are located at the end of the pipeline. That's why I have worked so hard to accomplish the Emergency Storage Project and the Ultra-Filtration system. These projects recently started construction having been anticipated for more than 20 years! Completion will give our customers a 90 day independent supply of the highest quality water.

These are not easy or short-term goals. It requires careful environmental and fiscal planning. I am proud that we are accomplishing these goals while maintaining a stable rate structure for our customers.

Once these facilities are on-line, this additional storage capacity opens new opportunities for entering into the emerging 'Water Market' in search of the most competitive pricing.

Short-term promises just do not work in this business. The lengthy regulatory process, coupled with inter-agency limitations, requires the District have a well conceived and achievable plan. I am proud of my contributions to developing and implementing the District's plan. We are doing it right!
