Why elect a new school board member?

By Kelli M. Moors

Candidate for Board Member; Carlsbad Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I bring to the board the perspective of an active, involved parent who has spent literally hundreds of hours in our classroom.
When my daughter began kindergarten here in Carlsbad I started volunteering in her classroom. As time passed I stepped up to meet more needs within the schools, working on PTA, district advisory councils, and legislative action committees. Throughout these years I have continued to spend time each week in classrooms throughout Carlsbad, seeing our students and teachers at work in real, everyday settings.

I've also used this campus experience to meet and talk with other parents. I have a fresh, first-hand knowledge of what they want for their kids and how they want our school board to help them meet those goals.

I've taken this grass roots perspective to both the state and national level, meeting with our elected officials in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. to educate them about what Carlsbad schools are doing and how they can help us do more.
