Candidate's Ballot Statement

By Kit L Kesinger

Candidate for Board Member; Ramona Municipal Water District; Division 1

This information is provided by the candidate
I describe my main goals as a representative of the Ramona Community on the Water Board.
I stand for FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY. Ramona's water rates are among the highest in San Diego County. So it is important for the Ramona Water District to buy water at the lowest possible price, keep operating and construction costs low, and find beneficial uses for treated wastewater. I will work hard to wisely manage the Water District's finances, reduce costs and earn a reputation for integrity within the water board.

I represent the COMMUNITY. Treated wastewater is best used for landscaping. Ramona's wastewater can be used by developers for golf courses, or by the community for parks and sports fields. I'm working to create the Santa Maria Greenway Park, which will provide parkland along Santa Maria Creek, irrigated with Ramona's wastewater.

I support PARKS, OPENSPACE and a HEALTHY RURAL ENVIRONMENT. The Water District is Ramona's main parks authority, but the current Water Board does little to maintain and improve parks. The Ramona Water District should provide high quality parks for Ramona, or work to create an independent parks district. A dedicated parks authority can provide more parks, protect open space, and help keep Ramona a high quality community.
