Candidate for
Board Member; Fallbrook Public Utility District; Seat 1

After retiring from a very busy and demanding professional life, I would like to offer my professional skills to the citizens living in the Fallbrook Public Utilities District.

Fallbrook has a unique blend of groves, nurseries, floriculture, truck farms and open space. These agricultural activities can only exist if there is adequate water for irrigation at a reasonable price. As I read the newspapers I note the continuing conflict and questions about the southern California imported water supply as various environmental and legal challenges divert water to other purposes. I am very concerned about the impact of these decisions on our water supply. I also note that because of increasing energy costs a FPUD water rate increase may be necessary; and that the FPUD land holdings on the Santa Margarita River are to be sold in the near future.

All of these issues will pose significant challenges to the FPUD Directors. My concern is that short-term decisions to cope with some of these issues may not be in the community's long-term best interest. With my budgeting and planning background, I will work to meet short-term business needs but also insure that the Fallbrook community's long-term interests are meet.
