Why Run For The School Board?

By Dotty Frazzitta Cronin

Candidate for Board Member; Ramona Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Ramona School District has some serious problems. One of which is securing more space for everyone. Another is the ongoing conflict between some of our present Board Members. I'm a conservative, middle of the road common sense type of person with lots of experience and I think I can help solve these problems.
We need to concentrate on what's best for our kids! The only reason for the existance of any school district is to educate children. All parts of a school district including the Board of Education only exist for that one purpose.

A Board that is constantly fighting over things can't accomplish much. A good trustee does their homework and is well informed. They seek information from a wide variety of sources. It takes time, and I have that kind of time and contacts. My experience as a former teacher and Board Member in our district would give me advantages most of my fellow candidates don't have. I already know how the district functions and it wont take me two or three years to figure it out. I've spent years involved in not only in my own classroom but also in writing the District Goals, working on the budget committees, writing curriculum, designing report cards and a wide variety of programs, personnel interviews, textbook selections, etc. These are experiences I found invaluable the last time I was on the Board and I expect they would be again if I am re-elected.

I don't have the answers to all of our problems, but I can promise that I would try to bring some peace and tranquility to our district and work toward solutions that will satisfy as many people as possible.
