POSITION AND PLEDGE

A fiscal conservative believing in "pay as you go" rather than incurring debt.

I pledge to further the City of Capitola Finance Committee effort to improve the finances of the city. I am an independent voter; as the City of Capitola Treasurer I will listen to all sides. I learned a great deal as a member of the Finance Committee and know that the Treasurer should be someone knowledgeable and with a new perspective.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Member of the City of Capitola Finance Committee, appointed by City of Capitola council member Gayle Ortiz.

  • Worked 20 years at FMC Corp. as an Engineering Manager; budget of over $3,000,000.

  • At FMC Corp. negotiated contracts exceeding $30,000,000.

  • Volunteer for IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), largest professional engineering society in the world. 3 years as Treasurer of Technical Activities Board; budget exceeding $10,000,000, which is the approximate size of the City of Capitola budget.

  • Member of Board of Directors of Mid County Senior Center in Capitola.

  • Honorable discharge from USNR as Lieutenant.

  • Registered Professional Engineer in Control Systems.

  • Graduated from the State University of New York with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

  • Financially independent retiree with daughters and granddaughters and the time and energy to perform an outstanding job as the City of Capitola Treasurer.
