Bringing diversity to the School BoardBy Carmen MontanoCandidate for Governing Board Member; Milpitas Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
A good School Board needs to have diversity to provide comprehensive leadership and represent the needs of our community. The present School Board lacks diversity of points of view and of ethnicity. In a community with a richness of cultural backgrounds we must not continue to place the leadership of our schools in the hands of a singleminded group. The education we want for our children should reflect the variety of cultures that make Milpitas the wonderful place it is. When elected, I will actively pursue a course to bring more of our community's cultural heritages into the district classrooms. |
