I was born and raised in DeKalb, Illinois, graduating from Northern Illinois University in 1960. With wife Patricia and three children, moved to Santa Maria in 1961 where I taught and coached in the Santa Maria High School District until retirement in 1994. I was elected to the High School Governing Board in 1996. My three children were educated in local public schools, are college graduates, and have successful professional careers. In addition to my experience in local high schools, I have also taught in the Adult High School Diploma progam, in Summer and Evening Division programs at Alan Hancock College, and have organized and administered teen and adult recreation programs with the Santa maria Recreation and Parks Department. I was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1954 and served on active duty until 1956. |
