Candidate for
Director; Elk Grove Community Service District; Full Term

I am 66 years old, and a native of Elk Grove.

I am currently retired, and live with my wife, Elizabeth, at 10587 Franklin Boulevard, Elk Grove.

I have one son, Wade M. Derr, and two grandsons, James and Aaron Derr.

I entered the fire fighting business early, at the age of 15, after going to fires with my father, Homer M. Derr, an Elk Grove Volunteer Fireman

I graduated from Elk Grove schools, and received my BA at Sacramento State in 1956.

I taught school for two years, and then entered the family business with my father on a full-time basis.

I was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in 1957, and Fire Chief in 1969.

I was instrumental in the formation of the Elk Grove Community Services District in 1985, combining the Elk Grove Fire and Recreation and Park Districts.

I was the first general manager of the EGCSD, and served as Fire Chief at the same time.

I have been concerned about the health and safety of the citizens of Elk Grove for as long as I can remember.
