This is my offical statementNewport Beach needs leadership to restore the trust between taxpayers and their government. I have been a successful City Manager for 35 years and want to bring my lifetime of skills and experience to city hall. When I retired as Newport Beach's City Manager there was $66,000,000.00 in reserves. Known as a consensus builder, I managed the team that; Constructed the Upper Bay Bridge, Built the Police Station, Launched the new Central Library, and Created numerous parks and community centers including, West Newport Community Center, C.D.M. Youth Center, Oasis and Lawn Bowling Green for seniors, Spyglass Hill Park, and Bonita Creek Park. I hold a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University, served as instructor on local government at San Diego State University, Orange Coast College, and University of California at Irvine. I was a Bishop in my church and my wife Carol and I are active in volunteer work. I was honored as "Citizen of the Year", received the Dolphins "Silver Anchor" Award, "Sunshine" Award by Speak Up Newport, and the 1998 "Ethics in America" Award from Chapman University.
