SOCCCD currently allocates 54.28% of tax dollars directly to our classrooms, not including counseling and library services which directly benefit our students as well. Since 1997, the Board of Trustees has reorganized the adminstrative structure at Saddleback and Irvine Valley Colleges. Prior to the reorganization, for example, Saddleback College had more deans that UC Irvine! Adminsistrative savings now amount to more than $2 million annually. The Board of Trustees also reduced taxpayer paid release time for faculty from over $2.5 million just four years ago to just $200,000 now (programs such as nursing require this time). Total taxpayer savings so far: Since 1997 @ $4.8 million per year, total savings is $14.4 million and growing! |
