Margie Rice was elected to the Westminster City Council in November,1994. While serving as Mayor Pro Tem, she assumed the duties of Mayor for three months while the incumbent was recuperating from an automobile accident. Council Member was Re-elected to a second term in 1998.

As a City Council representitve, she also serves on the West Orange County Water Board, the Westminster Collaborative Board, TheWestminster Foundation for Educational Excellence Board, The Public\Cable Television Authority Board, as our cities Cable Systems Director,as liason to the Greater Westminster Chamber of Commerce and as the alternate Board member for the Orange County Fire Authority.

Margie Rice is a director of Midway City Sanitary District which provides service to the cities of Westminster and the unincorporated community of Midway City. Director Rice was elected to the board in November 1990, Re-elected for a second term in November 1994 and a thirdterm in 1998. She has served one year as President, two years as President Pro-Tem and one year as Treasurer of the Board. She represented the district on the Orange County Sanitation District Joint District Board from 1994 through 1997 and currently serves as secretary of the Board. She was appointed the Orange County Sanitation District and served as Vice Chairperson of District 3. She served a total of four years.

Ms. Rice served for 17 years as a Board Member of the Westminster School District. During her service she served as president of the board for two years, Vice President for three years, and as Clerk of the Board for four years.

In 1997, Ms. Rice was appointed to the Orange County Water Ditrict's Underground Water Committee and the speciazl Ditrict's Advisory Committee which acts in and an advisory capacity to Orange County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO). She continues to serve on this committee.

Ms. Rice is a Charter Member of the Westminster Kiwanis Club, which was founded in 1997. She serves and interclub chairperson and was elected President for the 1998-99 term and re-elected President for a second term for 1999-2000.

Ms. Rice has devoted countless hours as a community volunteer promoting local schools and education for four decades, both as an individual and through PTA Organizations. She has served on numerous Advisory Committee's for the Westminster School District. Ms. Rice was instrumental in establishing a test program for instructions, classroom aids and served on the Districts Employee Assistance Program. She made door to door personal contacts with area residents to secure votes neccesary for the passage of bonds to build ten schools in the Westminster District.

On the county level, Ms. Rice served for two years. On and Advisory Board for Supervisor Harriet Weider; she was a member of the Juveinile Task Force, appointed by State Assamblyman Chet Wray; and was appointed to the State Education Advisory Committee by Assemblyman Richard Robins.

Councilwoman/Director Rice has been a Westminster resident for 44 years. She has four adult Children, 15 grand children and 15 great grandchildren.
