Member, City Council; City of Mission Viejo

Lance MacLean is seeking election to Mission Viejo City Council. A long time county resident, Lance and his family moved to the community of M.V. 7 years ago for the neighborhood parks, youth sports, good schools and low crime rate. With a deep sense of community, Lance has a long record of public service. Actively involved with many organizations, Lance has served the community in the following capacities:

  • · Committee Member, El Toro Re-use Planning Authority (ETRPA). Actively participated in the development of the non-aviation millennium plan.
  • · District Delegate, Lake Mission Viejo. Represent the interests of the members on issues regarding operations, budget, services, rules and regulations.
  • · Coach, AYSO Youth Soccer. Head coach for both boys and girls at various levels including divisions 5, 4 and 3.
  • · Marketing Committee, Pacific Symphony Orchestra. Development and implementation of awareness campaigns for the community, local businesses and children to build appreciation and attendance to classical music.
  • · Board of Directors, Mission Viejo Swim & Racquet Club. Provide direction and oversight of the operation of the local homeowner recreation facility.

Lance first came to Orange County to attend college at the University of California, Irvine. He completed a double major earning Bachelor's degrees in both Economics and Political Science. Briefly Lance moved to Washington D.C. where he worked as an intern to Senator S.I. Hayakawa. In that capacity he worked on issues related to commerce, science and transportation where he handled constituent mail, attended active committee meetings and researched pending legislation. Most recently, Lance has obtained his Master's degree in Public Administration from California State University Long Beach. Earning a 4.0 GPA in the program, Lance was inducted as a member of the Pi Alpha Alpha academic honor society where he holds the position of treasurer.

Professionally Lance is the Associate Executive Director for Student Government at UCI. In this capacity he applies his experience and knowledge to provide leadership and guidance to the student government department, supervising campus business operations and services while managing the department budget.

Lance is a strong conservative leader with experience and integrity who recognizes those community qualities that make Mission Viejo such a desirable place to live and work. He is committed to serving the residents interests by protecting and promoting our family oriented quality of life. As your City Council representative, Lance pledges to be fiscally responsible while assuring that essential city services and programs are provided in order to strengthen and beautify or community.
