Political Philosophy for Sergio Contreras

A Message from Sergio Contreras... "As a volunteer at Orange County Juvenile Hall, I was a Math & Reading tutor. I mentored troubled youth, as young as age 9, 4th graders, who lost their way due in part to a lack of quality education. Many never learned to read, let alone pursued reading to learn. Westminster student testing shows that there is a significant drop in both Math and Reading competency at this crucial age in a young person's development. Each successive grade level, the problems only become worse." "We can change, and make Westminster safer. With the support of a community, I have seen young minds embrace learning and turn away from violence and crime. As a holder of three college degrees, a lifetime Westminster resident and graduate of our city's schools, I respectfully ask for your support. Our success depends on change." |
