Reasonable and responsible growth must be encouraged.

By Bill Borden

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Huntington Beach

This information is provided by the candidate
The City is a $277 million dollar business and must be managed in a resposnsible, resident, and business friendly manner.
The city is in a very rapid and complex growth mode. Our major arteries are jammed and city services are just barely able to keep pace with increased demands. We are a city of 56 parks, 8 1/2 miles of beach, a world class library, a reinvented cultural center, and many other amenities which make our quality of life enjoyable and safe. City Council must understand that it is our commercial engines (hotels, restaurants, car dealers, and other business) that drive all of these amenities. Council and staff should be more responsive to the needs of our business partners. At the same time we must assure that new businesses are approved in a responsible manner. We cannot continue to grow beyond the ability of our outdated infrastructure to maintain this growth. Reasonable, balanced, and responsible growth is the key to even greater progress in 21st Century Huntington Beach.
