The main priorities of city government should be to enhance the quality of life in the city, prudent use of the taxpayers' money, the safety of the city's citizens and the maintenance and improvement of infrastructure, such as the city's streets, water lines and reservoirs, and sewer lines. I believe in term limits and was a co-author of the city term limit ballot measure. Over 78% of Tustin voters agreed that council members should be limited to two terms. I believe that the city should be managed like a business. All successful private companies go out to bid on major contracts. The private sector is always looking for the best value, quality products at reasonable prices. I co-authored the ballot measure that required the city to go out to bid to on one of its largest contracts. Over 86% of Tustin voters agreed. We need to work with private entities to improve our library without a parcel tax. Other cities have done it. Tustin can, too. Listening and helping residents and businesses with individual problems is the first step to citywide solutions. Council members must be able to work with other leaders and fight for Tustin when necessary. Tustin deserves a city council with leaders who can plan for the future. |
