Candidate for Director; Marin Municipal Water District; Area 5

This project will cost AT LEAST $20 Million, will require major rate increases, and new information shows that this is just the tip of the financial iceberg. Let's get all the facts before rushing into a fiscal fiasco.
The Russian River pipeline, which will cost at least $20 million and will require major rate increases, is being rushed forward by the incumbent, with the support of pro-growth special interests.

I say "not so fast." Measure V promised that conservation and recycling -- which are more cost-effective, reliable, and sustainable -- should be pursued first. The Water Board's own Citizens' Advisory Committee has raised serious questions about the need for, and the effectiveness of, this pipeline.

Let's be sure we're keeping faith with the voters on Measure V. And let's also be sure we're not spending millions of taxpayer dollars on a pipeline that won't provide us with a reliable, sustainable water supply.
