Sensible Change

By Donato B. "Don" Garcia

Candidate for Assessor; County of Los Angeles

This information is provided by the candidate
One concern that I feel is important is the Assessor's lack of promoting legislation that benefits taxpayers. Did you know that it could take years for the Assessor's Office to recognize an ownership transfer? That a valuation error or clerical error more than four years old and which is plainly wrong when corrected cannot generate a refund for excess taxes paid. That our Assessor unlike others does not send notice in advance of what the assessed value of your property will be on your tax bill. This county needs an Assessor that is taxpayer oriented and who is more of an advocate for them. This county survives on our property taxpaying residents and businesses. They deserve to have an Assessor working for them and not against them. If elected, I will bring sensible change to the office that will make a difference.
