To complete the repair and renovation of Mira Costa High School, including replacing deteriorating electrical, heating and plumbing systems, and comply with current State fire and safety standards, and repair, rehabilitate and construct high school classrooms, library, laboratories and other educational facilities to relieve overcrowding, shall the Manhattan Beach Unified School District issue bonds in an amount not to exceed $26,000,000 at an interest rate within the legal limit with all money raised thereby staying in Manhattan Beach to benefit local children?
Funds received from the sale of the bonds would be used for the acquisition and improvement of real property at the Mira Costa High School, including repairing electrical, heating and plumbing systems, compliance with State fire and safety standards, and repairing, rehabilitating and constructing classrooms, library, laboratories and other facilities. The bonds would be issued and sold at an interest rate not exceeding the maximum rate allowable by law, and would be repaid over a period not to exceed forty (40) years by a property tax levied upon real property located within the District. This measure requires a two–thirds (2/3) vote for passage. NOTICE TO VOTERS: Approval of Measure M does not guarantee that the proposed project or projects in the Manhattan Beach Unified School District that are the subject of bonds under Measure M will be funded beyond the local revenues generated by Measure M. The school district's proposal for the project or projects may assume the receipt of matching state funds, which could be subject to appropriation by the Legislature or approval of a statewide bond measure. /s/ Lloyd W. Pellman, County Counsel
