Candidate for
Board Member; Bakersfield City School District

We must continue the momentum that has developed over the past years in every way - improved management and management systems, employee relations, innovative programs, training, and accountability.

We must maintain our laser-like focus on the education of students. Each and every person involved in the district is there for one purpose - to contribute to the education of children.

And, we must concentrate on facility issues and continue to reduce class size. We were the first large district in California to fully implement kindergarten through third grade class size reduction and we must continue that effort throughout all grades.

I would like to see class size reduction extended to include fourth through six grade by the end of my next term. This is a huge undertaking but research shows that it is one well worth the effort.
