Impartial Analysis from The County Council
A yes vote on Measure N will approve the issuing and selling of bonds of the Peninsula Union Elementary School District in the principal amount of $1,080,000. The bonds shall bear interest at rates within the legal limits.

Money from the sale of the bonds will be used to repair, modernize, and construct school facilities and remove safety hazards, including modernizing computer technology; removing asbestos, repairing roofs and improving earthquake safety; improving playgrounds; upgrading security, fire and safety systems; and building a meeting room.

This measure will not become effective, and this bond issuance and sale will not occur unless the measure is approved by two-thirds of the voters within the District.

Arguments For Measure N Arguments Against Measure N
We urge you to vote yes on Measure N. Measure N provides $1,080,000.00 in urgently needed bond funds for the Peninsula School. Our school needs to be safe, healthy and secure for all students and the community.

A yes vote on Measure N will stop our deterioration. It will provide for:

  • upgrading the technological capabilities of the school including a new library/media center.
  • refurbish deteriorating classrooms and playgrounds
  • replacing inadequate electrical systems
  • repairing restrooms
  • making the necessary structural repairs and improve earthquake safety

The district, in the past, has been able to fund the repairs and maintenance of the school without asking the voters for support. The school district has cut costs, streamlined and has exhausted state funding sources.

Our children are being asked to "get by" with an old and obsolete electrical system which will not support our present and future technological needs. The electrical system as it now stands cannot support up to date computer equipment. There are simply not enough electrical circuits and outlets for the classrooms to supply this need.

On a $100,000.00 assessed value home the cost will be approximately $3.67 a month.

Lets show our students that we care about the quality of their education. A yes vote on Measure N would confirm that our community has the best interest of our children at heart.
