Fresno County has an unnecessarily high unemployment rate. We need to bring new businesses to Fresno and encourage businesses already here to expand to provide jobs for all our workers. Fresno County itself is constantly losing employees to other employers with better salaries and benefit packages. High turnover means higher training costs, lower morale and poorer public service. In the long run, this approach costs more, not less. Fresno County is the largest employer in the area. The County must set an appropriate standard for employee compensation and benefits.
