Where I've been and what I've done.

Two of my fellow candidates have no leadership experience and haven't participated in city planning until now. My other two opponents say they are experienced. Shouldn't the voters be allowed to know their voting records and whos' interests they've looked out for? Since retiring from the Antioch Police Department in 1998 and deciding I wanted to serve this community on the city council, I have strived to make myself as informed as possible. I participated in the following projects;

• Measure U workshops held at various locations including Kimball elementary. I spoke about the need for limiting multi-family housing. I also spoke against excluding non-union local businesses from the McBail Project.

• Economic Development workshops held at Prewitt Park and Deer Valley High. After hearing about the need for large manufacturing sites from F Rodgers Insulation and deliverable commercial pads from commercial developers, I have pushed for these in every project I've seen before the council.

• Budget planning workshops held at city hall. I spoke out about the need for internal traffic improvements including the coordination of signals on Lone Tree Way. I also spoke out about the need for economic development funds and money for attracting jobs.

• Small business incubator workshop at city hall. I spoke with the economic development director and shared my views as a business owner.

• Opposed the Spanos apartment complex proposed for Lone Tree Way at Golf Course Road.

• Opposed the exclusion of local businesses from bidding on public works projects because of union-only requirements. How can we entice business if we don't support it when it's gets here?

• Spoke out supporting action being taken against the developers of the senior housing on Davidson at Deer Valley for violating the developer agreements and blocking the view of neighbors on Barmouth.

• Spoke out favoring a full EIR and study on the Ren-Fair project for southeast Antioch. Traffic issues make the project a poor proposition for the area.

• Spoke in favor of recreating a civic arts commission to handle art projects in Antioch.

To my fellow candidates: I'm not afraid to share my record and my ideas because I have nothing to hide. What about you?
