This information is provided by the candidate

Debra Mason believes that children and families must come first. She has spent the better part of her adult life advocating for sevices for youth and families in Contra Costa County. She feels partnerships and collaboration are key to the success of schools. Debra sees a need to leverage services and dollars to better serve our students. She would like to see the schools used more effectively by the community, but feels the district is not quite there yet. ___________________________________________________________

Debra feels that every child can succeed and it is imperative that the district reach each and every child. She believes in equitable education for all students regardless of where they attend school. Her time spent facilitating parenting classes has shown her that most parents know what is best for their children and feels the district should value and respect their input. In fact the district should encourage parents to become more active participants in their childs education.
