Full Biography for John F. Connors

|
John Connors has a varied and productive background. He has served twice on the Moraga Town Council, once from 1986 to 1988 when he had to resign due to an illness and again from 1996 to 2000 during which time he had the privilege of serving as the Town's mayor for a year. He fought strenuously against massive development such as Northwood Homes and Palos Colorados, and succeeded in contributing to massive changes to those proposals. Northwood Homes ignited the MOSO Open Space Movement, a ballot measure which was passed by the voters in 1986. Palos Colorados was massive development at the north end of town which promised alarming amounts of traffic congestion and imposed impacts on the ecostructure. In both cases the courts were invoked to challenge Moraga's position on these matters and Mr. Connors was there through it all. Through the years Mr. Connors has vigorously defended the General Plan against changes that served to intensify growth and congestion, particularly in the central areas of the town. He fought the lot line adjustment of Mulholland Hill, the Buckhorn Reservoir proposal by EBMUD and the high density apartments on Ascot Drive called Luxor. All of these proposals promised to change the landscape and look of Moraga. |
