Nina Moore is a nine year resident of Fremont, California.  She is married, with two children.  Since moving to Niles in 1997, Ms. Moore has been active at Niles School and within FUSD.   At Niles, she has been PTA Vice-President for the past two years, also serving as Parent Education chair.  She is a FAME (Fine Arts Mini-Experience) docent, volunteers as a tutor, and works in the classroom on a regular basis.   She joined the Community Facilities Committee in the fall of 1998 and continues as an active participant in school district committees.  She is currently Vice-Chair of the Commission on Instructional Equity, chartered by the School Board in the summer of 1999 to address educational inequities in the district.    In the past, she served on the Board of Tri-Cities Children's Centers, and she remains actively involved with their annual fundraiser and is an ardent supporter of their early childhood education services.

In 1999, she was named president of the Fremont Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that has provided classroom grants to Fremont's teachers for the past 9 years.    Last year, the Foundation launched a major new campaign to return afterschool band programs to Fremont's elementary schools.  This campaign grew out of Moore's vision for a district-wide program available to all students.  Moore said, "I am proud to say that we were able to raise over $70,000 towards this cause, and music will again ring in Fremont's elementary schools this year."    Ms. Moore has a long and distinguished career in technology, with 18 years of business experience in the field. Her leadership experience includes assignments as a Director for Sun Microsystems, Red Pepper Software, and Cullinet Software.   In recognition of her accomplishments, she was named to the 1993-94 Who's Who list of Global Business Leaders.   Part of her work experience includes performing technical training for corporate clients.  She also spent a year teaching educationally disadvantaged students at a private school in New York. In 1995, she retired in order to enjoy time with her two children and become more actively involved in the community.

Ms. Moore is currently Secretary of the Northern California Chapter of the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, a support organization for a brittle bone disorder that affects her daughter.

Ms. Moore graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clark University (Worcester MA 1975) with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Literature.   She has a Masters in Library and Information Science from Simmons Graduate School of Library and Information Science (Boston, MA 1982) and graduated first in her class.
