I am a native of the Tri-Valley. I graduated from Livermore High School in 1969. As a newly divorced mother of two children in 1977, I needed training for a job. I did not consider training for a life-time career. At the then Chabot College-Valley Campus, now Las Positas College, I received counseling (thankyou again Dee) and encouragement. Instead of looking for a job, I was training for a career. With the small class sizes and first class faculty, staff and administrators, students are given everything they need to progress and succeed. I was a student assistant and instructional aid while a student at Las Positas College and continued to work there while I completed my BS in Accounting at California State University Hayward. After graduating and obtaining my CPA license, I returned to Las Positas College as a part-time hourly instructor in Accounting, Business Math, PC Dos and Lotus. I completed my MBA at Golden Gate University in 1994. I was elected to the Chabot-Las Positas Board of Trustees in 1996. Quite a history for someone with only a high school education and two children. I owe many of my personal and most of my professional successes to Las Positas College. I have lived in Pleasanton since 1982. My son Jeff Turner is a student at Las Positas College and my daughter Carolyn Forcier and son Patrick Forcier are students at Amador High School. My son Donald and his wife Michelle and my two grandchildren live in Livermore. |
