Martin Sproul graduated cum laude from Harvard College in 1976, and obtained his JD degree in 1979 from the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law. He became a member of the State Bar of California in June of 1980, and has been in private civil practice since then. Sproul represents individuals, businesses and schools in transactions and in state and federal courts. Sproul has advocated before State courts of appeal and before the California Supreme Court. During the years of his undergraduate studies at Harvard, Sproul's field of concentration was the history of ideas, with particular attention to the history of sciences, ancient and modern. He devoted over a year to in-residence programs of research in consciousness and human potential. Between 1982 and 1985, he trained at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Sproul contributed two thousand hours of care in a state licensed community clinic at the College in San Francisco, where patients are treated with a combination of herbs and acupuncture. He has served on the governing boards of the American College and the East Bay Center of the International Meditation Society. For the past twenty-seven years, Martin Sproul has worked for the cause of world peace by teaching meditation, conflict resolution, stress reduction, history, and a comparative appreciation of the achievements, values, and knowledge traditions of the East and West. He has led numerous classes, seminars and weekend in-residence courses. |
