"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." - Thomas Jefferson I believe that each individual should be free to live and do as he or she pleases so long as he or she does not harm others. Individual freedom combined with personal responsibility for one's actions is the basis for a just society. I believe that tolerance and cooperation produces peace and harmony. I believe that free people working together, in a free market economy will create innovations that will feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, educate the young, and cure the ill. I believe that a government that taxes income from those who have earned it and gives it to those who did not is immoral I believe that governments purpose should be limited to protecting people from violence, fraud and aggression. I believe societies and governments infringe on individual liberties whenever they tax wealth, create penalties for victimless crimes, and otherwise attempt to control or regulate individual conduct that harms nor benefits anyone except the individuals who engage in it. It is time to shrink government and allow the people of California to enjoy self-reliance and self-determination. The founding fathers of our great nation believed that people were compentent to run their own lives without government "help" or interference. It is beyond time to return to trusting ourselves to do what's best. It is time to end the "nanny state" that says it wants to help, but in reality controls and eventually enslaves. |
