"When asked how much educated men were superior to those uneducated, Aristotle answered, 'As much as the living are to the dead.'" -Diogenes, Greek Philosopher"Education: A debt due from present to future generations." -George Peabody, Philanthropist "A child miseducated is a child lost." -John F. Kennedy, United States President We as a nation are morally obligated to provide our children with the best educational opportunities possible. Our children's futures and the future of our country depend on it. The notion that the government can make better choices than a parent with regard to a child's education is ridiculous. As a parent, I am deeply offended and outraged that the government doesn't trust me to make good choices when it comes to my children's education. Those Representatives who would willingly jeopardize a child's future in order to protect the public education monopoly stand in stark contrast to the millions of American parents who make significant sacrifices to provide their children with the best education that they can afford. Is there any question that public education is failing to properly educate millions of children? Why would anyone allow this to continue to happen? Perhaps the answer lies in tremendous campaign contributions from the education establishment. This is wrong. The act of protecting a failing institution from competition guarantees its failure. As we have found to be true in all other aspects of life whether it be industry, sports, music, or entertainment, competition leads to a better result. The only way to save public education is to open it up to competition. I support:
